What is the Bathurst Winter Festival?
The Bathurst Winter Festival is a two week event from 1 - 16 July which embraces the magic of Bathurst’s winter. The McDonald's Bathurst Ice Rink, ferris wheel and carousel will operate every day of the 16 day festival and iconic buildings will be illuminated every night from dusk. Join in the fun of Ignite the Night on the 1 July or taste your way through Brew & Bite on the 8 July.

What events are on during the Bathurst Winter Festival?
The festival runs for two weeks; with the McDonald’s Bathurst Ice Rink, ferris wheel and carosuel every day. There are also two feature nights; Ignite the Night on Saturday 1 July and Brew and Bite on Saturday 8 July.

Do I need to purchase tickets for the event?
Entry into the festival is free.
The illumination installations are free.
Tickets for the rink start at $5 and we encourage you to purchase tickets online.
Tickets for the ferris wheel and carousel are $5 per person and can be purchased on site.

Illuminations

Where can I see the illuminations?
Key buildings in Bathurst’s CBD will be lit up each night of the festival, including Bathurst Court House, Court House Lane, the Fernery in Machattie Park, the Cathedral of St Michael & St John, Ribbon Gang Lane and the Australian Fossil & Mineral Museum.

How long are the illuminations on?
Every night during the 16 day festival from dusk until 10 pm.

Ice Rink

How do I buy tickets for the ice rink?
Tickets are available online, follow the link. Tickets may also be purchased from the onsite box office from Saturday 1 July, providing sessions are still available.

How much do tickets cost?
Children (2-13) are $5 each and adults (14 and over) are $10.

What time is the ice rink operating to?
The McDonalds Bathurst Ice Rink is open from 9 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 9 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

How long do sessions last?
All sessions start on the hour and run for 45 minutes.

What happens if the weather is bad and it rains or snows?
The rink can operate in nearly all weather conditions. Please bring suitable outdoor clothing. This is an outdoor event and no refunds will be given due to inclement weather. In the unlikely event that the Duty manager deems it necessary to close the ice rink, alternative sessions will be offered for skating, subject to availability. Notification will be provided via Facebook

How many people can skate on the ice rink?
The ice rink is 18m x 30m with a capacity of 150 skaters

Are there any skating aids available for my child?
Yes, however there are a limited amount per session. You can purchase them for $5 each when you buy your ticket

What time is the ferris wheel operating?
The ferris wheel will operate from 9 am to 8 pm Monday to Thursday and 9 am to 9 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

How tall is the ferris wheel?
It is 23meters high

When is the carousel operating?
The carousel will operate from 9am to 8pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 9pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Tickets are only available on site and are $5 per person per ride.

Festival Nights

When are the festival nights?
Ignite the Night will be held on Saturday 1 July and Brew and Bite will be held on Saturday 8 July.

Where do the festival nights take place?
Both festivals take place in Kings Parade from 5 pm to 9 pm.

Parking is available is surrounding CBD streets and the RSL carpark.

Are there ATM’s available?
There are no ATM’s inside the festival precinct, however there are multiple ATM facilities within the surrounding CBD.

What should I bring along with me?
Warm clothes! If you have last year’s festival, bring that too, or you can purchase a new one at the festival for $3 each.

What happens if the weather is bad and it is raining or snowing?
The festival nights will go ahead even if it is raining. The event will only be cancelled if exceptionally severe weather makes the venue unsafe. In the event of bad weather, keep an eye on the Bathurst Regional Council Events Facebook page for information.

How much heating is available at the festival nights?
The festival is held outdoors with little to no cover and minimal heating. You are encouraged to wear plenty of layers to keep wear outdoors.

Can I bring my own picnic rug or chairs?
Yes, however the ground can be very damp.

What is the difference between Ignite the Night and Brew and Bite?
