Local Businesses

Window Displays

The annual Bathurst Winter Festival Brighten Up Bathurst Window Display Competition is your chance to show your business’ Winter spirit and turn the heads of the thousands of Festival fans wandering the streets of Bathurst across the two weeks of the Winter school holidays.

Businesses are encouraged to help celebrate the magic of the Bathurst Winter Festival by decorating your store front in a Winter theme and have your very own illumination that ‘Brightens Up Bathurst'.

Starter Packs

Registered businesses will receive a starter pack for your display. All item included in the starter pack must be used in your display.

Prizes

Each year prizes are awarded for the best displays. Prizes for 2024 will be announced soon! 

Key Dates

  • Monday 17 June - Registrations close
  • W/C Tuesday 18 June - Starter packs delivered
  • Monday 1 to Sunday 21 July - Displays must be up
  • Tuesday 9 July - Photo submissions of display due by 3pm
  • Thursday 11 July - Judging to take place and winners announced
  • Sunday 21 July - Last night of displays

Tips for creating a winning display

  • Have a display that looks great in the day and night - illuminate elements of your display, make it bright and colourful.
  • Incorporate a winter theme.
  • Add extra elements - try adding some unique items to take your display to the next level.
  • Get crafty - try making some elements for your display, what about some lanterns or snowflake cutouts?
  • Take a great photo to submit - the photo you submit will be used to judge the displays. Try taking photos at different times of the day, or at different angles to avoid glare if the photo is through a window.
  • Use the items from your window display starter pack.

Program of Events

Local businesses and community groups are encouraged to take advantage of the Bathurst Winter Festival, and hold their own event or promotion as part of the festival.

The additional events encourage visitors and locals to explore the Bathurst Region and extend their stay during what was previously a quiet time of year for local businesses and tourism providers.

We encourage local businesses to come up with new and exciting events, activities or promotions to be included in the Bathurst Winter Festival Program of Events.

Accommodation Partner

Local accommodation businesses are encouraged to take advantage of the Festival and increased visitation to the region by offering exclusive festival deals.

Businesses who offer accommodation deals for the festival will be promoted as a Festival Accommodation Partner, and provided festival flyers and attendee surveys to distribute in rooms before and during the festival.

Tips for Welcoming Visitors

Every year, over 70,000 people visit our great town across the two weeks of the Festival – we encourage locals to help make them feel welcome because a visitor's experience at the event will be determined by how we, Bathurst, made them feel.

Offer some local knowledge - where is the best coffee, recommended dinner places, spots for the kids, or nicest morning walk?

Encourage them to visit again throughout the year, perhaps during Race Week or during the Summer months.
